Los Angeles, March 1, 2005--Pardee Homes has completed an EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION residence, with ABC-TV slated to air the episode this spring. Mike McGee, Pardee Homes' president and CEO, said the project demonstrates the home building company's core values.
"Community service has long been integral to Pardee Homes, whether as a structured program or spontaneous efforts by our employees," said McGee. "EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION ®S objective of helping those who need a hand is very much in line with our philosophy and we were delighted to be the builder for this episode."
Pardee Homes' EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION home integrates professional design from the show's design team and Bassenian/Lagoni Architects of Newport Beach. Meeting the housing needs for the designated family, the home also reflects Pardee Homes' strong commitment to energy efficiency and sustainable building practices.
Highlights of the home include many elements of Pardee Homes' signature LIVINGSMART® program. Launched in 2001, it provides green building standards and options that reduce energy requirements, enhance indoor air and water quality and preserve natural resources. Among its typical features are water- and energy-savings appliances; compact fluorescent lighting; engineered and certified lumber and formaldehyde-free insulation.
Since 2001, Pardee Homes has incorporated these and many additional earth-friendly features in selected new home neighborhoods. In 2002, the company became the nation's first multi-regional builder to build only ENERGYSTAR® homes, certified to be at least 30% more energy efficient than the nation's model energy code. To date, Pardee Homes' commitment accounts for some 6,500 ENERGYSTAR® compliant homes.
Among Pardee Homes' honors is EPA's ENERGY STAR Partner designation for three years running, which resulted in EPA's Sustained Excellence Award for 2005. Pardee Homes has also earned California's Flex Your Power Award, the Green Builder Award from the National Association of Home Builders and a certificate of recognition from the 2004 Governor's Environmental and Economic Leadership Awards for contributions to environmental protection and resource conservation in the State of California.
For the energy-efficient design for EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION, Pardee Homes and its crews began the ambitious makeover February 17, completing the new home February 22 for the chosen family, who reside in Santa Fe Springs in Los Angeles County. The company's participation was "a natural," according to Conrad Ricketts, EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION senior producer.
"We knew Pardee Homes' reputation as an outstanding builder, and we knew we could find no one better for this particular makeover," said Ricketts. "We were delighted to see Pardee Homes accept this challenge for the Leomiti family."
McGee added that the EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION process reinforces Pardee Homes' team dynamic. "Teamwork is critical to EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION, and it has anchored our company's 84 years of successful performance," said McGee. "I believe that Pardee Homes employees and our subcontractors and suppliers make up the best team in home building, and their performance and perseverance through the record-breaking rainfall of this particular project was simply outstanding."
Pardee Homes is a veteran of ambitious construction projects. Among its notable achievements is "The 50-Hour House" in Las Vegas. Like EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION projects, the Las Vegas home was built on an ultra-fast track. It celebrated Pardee Homes' 50 years building in Las Vegas, its focus on construction quality and safe practices and its commitment to community.
Pardee Homes EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION project was thus a perfect fit for the company, according to McGee. "EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION is a new and exciting chapter in our story, while simultaneously reflecting our most outstanding traditions," he said.
Originally established in 1921, Pardee Homes completed sales on 2,635 homes in 2004, with approximately $1.4 billion in total company revenues. Pardee Homes anticipates the grand opening of 30 new home communities in 2005, and more than 46 in active sales by year-end. The company is active in California and Nevada, with regional offices in Corona, Irvine, Pleasanton, Sacramento, San Diego, Valencia and Las Vegas. Pardee Homes' new home choices address a spectrum of households, and the company places particular emphasis on master-planned settings that also include schools, parks and preserved open space.
