SANTA CLARITA, CA February 17, 2009 – Pardee Homes is a proud sponsor of the Amgen Tour of California as the 4th annual statewide bicycle race passes through Santa Clarita this weekend, company officials said.

Pardee Homes is a platinum sponsor for the start of Stage 7, when Lance Armstrong and other world-class racing teams leave Santa Clarita at noon on Saturday, February 21, for one of the most grueling stages in the race.

 “Pardee Homes’ sponsorship of the Amgen tour represents our steadfast commitment to invest in the quality of life where we deliver top-notch new home communities,” said Jim Bizzelle, vice president of community development for Pardee Homes.  

This is Pardee Homes’ second local sponsorship of the annual and highly popular bicycle race.  Pardee Homes was a leading sponsor in 2008 when Santa Clarita hosted both the finish of one tour stage and the start of another.

“We decided to sponsor this event again because the tour creates such a festive, unifying feeling for the entire Santa Clarita Valley,’’ Bizzelle said.  “The community really turns out for this race and our sponsorship is one more way for Pardee Homes to give back to the community.”





In addition to the return of Lance Armstrong, this year’s Amgen Tour of California will include such other international bicycling notables as Levi Leipheimer, who won a bronze in the summer Olympics and won last year’s Tour of California;  Christian Vande Velde, who finished fourth in last year’s Tour de France; and Carlos Sastre, the 2008 Tour de France winner.  The tour began in Sacramento on Sunday, February 15 and concludes Sunday, February 22, in Escondido.
